Cooperation in Hosting the Symposium on Human Resource Development for Vietnam’s High-Speed and Urban Railway Projects

On February 15, 2025, a symposium on human resource development for the future construction of urban and high-speed railway projects in Vietnam was held at Da Nang University of Science and Technology. The event gathered approximately 200 participants, including researchers, educational institutions, and domestic and international enterprises, engaging in active discussions.

As one of the supporting organizations, PEDI Civil Solutions contributed to the symposium by inviting experienced experts in urban railway construction management as keynote speakers.

Eiichi Oishi, President of JEM Inc., a company affiliated with PEDI, delivered the keynote speech. Drawing from over 40 years of experience in infrastructure construction management, he shared valuable insights, challenges, and lessons learned from railway projects worldwide. Additionally, the symposium featured reports on the planning of high-speed and urban railway projects in Vietnam and the essential workforce development required for their implementation.

The Vietnamese government has proposed an investment plan for the construction of a high-speed railway connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to the National Assembly. The project is estimated to cost approximately $67.34 billion (about 10.2 trillion JPY) and is scheduled for completion by 2035. This project will span 1,541 km, including 23 passenger stations and 5 freight stations. Furthermore, several urban railway projects, including routes connecting Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Lao Cai, are set to commence in 2025.

The symposium reaffirmed the importance of workforce development for the advancement of railway infrastructure in Vietnam. PEDI Civil Solutions remains committed to fostering skilled professionals with advanced technical expertise and contributing to the progress of railway construction projects by leveraging global insights.
