On March 6, 2026, the 9th Utsunomiya International Workshop was successfully held under the theme “Shaping a Livable Da Nang.” Jointly organized by The University of Danang – University of Science and Technology and Utsunomiya University, the program has grown into a reputable interdisciplinary platform linking research, education, and real-world practice in urban infrastructure and planning.
The 2026 workshop focused on sustainable urban development solutions for Da Nang, particularly the integration of spatial planning with public transportation systems. A key highlight was the exploration of Light Rail Transit (LRT) as a strategic approach to reducing congestion and improving urban livability. Through a project-based learning model, students engaged in field surveys, data analysis, and the development of practical planning proposals under the guidance of international experts.

PEDI played a central and distinctive role throughout the program. From the early stages, under the leadership of Nguyen Minh Hai, PEDI worked closely with both universities to co-design the workshop content and ensure its strong alignment with real-world industry demands. By integrating practical insights from construction and urban development, the company helped bridge the gap between academic research and professional practice.
Beyond content development, PEDI also acted as a key sponsor, coordinator, and connector, facilitating collaboration among universities, experts, and stakeholders. This role not only ensured the smooth organization of the workshop but also expanded its academic and professional network. Through PEDI’s involvement, students gained valuable exposure to practical challenges, enhancing their technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and global perspective.

As a result, the workshop continues to strengthen its position as a credible international academic forum. PEDI’s contributions have been instrumental in elevating both the quality and impact of the program, reinforcing its long-term value in advancing innovative and sustainable urban development solutions for Da Nang.
