Proposals for Smart City Solutions to Da Nang City Based on the Research and Development Results in term of Infrastructure

At the “Seminar on Applying the Results of Technical Development in the Field of Infrastructure to Improve Transportation in Da Nang City,” hosted by the Da Nang City Department of Transportation on May 31, 2024, a team from PEDI (including Dr. Nguyen M. Hai, Dr. Phan H. Nam, Dr. Nguyen V. Huong, Dr. Nguyen P. Q. Duy, and Ms. Mai T. T. Thuy), in collaboration with Da Nang University of Technology, presented the following two proposals:

  1. Application of Translucent Concrete Materials to Road Traffic Signal Systems at Pedestrian Crosswalks

Translucent concrete materials have been the subject of foundational research by PEDI’s R&D team and Da Nang University of Technology for the past two years. Initial results have been published in numerous international journals. Moving forward, practical research for societal application will continue. This proposal represents a pilot application in Da Nang City and is considered a pioneering effort globally.

  • Establishment of a Digital Geological Information Database and 3D Geological Model to Support Urban Underground Space Planning in Da Nang City

While countries around the world have long been digitizing, visualizing, and making geological information open to the public, Vietnam is still lagging in this area. For planning and developing underground spaces, urban infrastructure maintenance, and effective land use, the digitization of geological information is a crucial first step. PEDI proposes research to establish the digitization of geological data for Da Nang City, leveraging knowledge of international examples and a deep understanding of domestic circumstances and challenges.

PEDI’s research and development efforts aim to address existing societal issues with high practical applicability. The seminar emphasized the importance of strengthening industry-academia-government collaboration to achieve these goals. News related to this seminar has also been published on the Da Nang City People’s Committee website.https://sgtvt.danang.gov.vn/-/so-gtvt-thanh-pho-a-nang-to-chuc-thanh-cong-hoi-thao-nghien-cuu-va-ung-dung-khoa-hoc-cong-nghe-trong-linh-vuc-giao-thong-van-tai-tren-ia-ban-thanh-pho?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR0c0KlXOotColFqH7iLFS9ge_hD6GPvprwj9WcjcB7I5Za9n85FTyErV24_aem_ZmFrZWR1bW15MTZieXRlcw
